Demonstrate the importance of, and your respect, for substitute teachers by renaming them guests, proudly welcoming them on your wall and preparing a welcome bag for them.  I have a student job of "Office Assistant" each week.  If I am out, it is the Office Assistant's job to welcome the Guest Teacher with the gift bag and to introduce them to the class in morning circle.
