Assertiveness

  1. What are your rights as a child?

  2. What are your personal boundaries? These might be physical or emotional.

  3. What might happen if you are not clear with your friends about what you want and need?

  4. What are some ways to say “no” and mean it?

  5. When have you needed to stand up for yourself?

  • Write a class list of rights.  For example: I have the right to have my opinion heard.

  • Discuss personal space and how to maintain it.  Introduce the term “Purple Circle” to describe their own personal space boundaries.
